On Sunday, actor-director Rakshit Shetty released the promo of ‘Richard Antony: Lord Of The Sea’, a follow up to his much-loved 2014 gangster drama ‘Ulidavaru Kandanthe’. This will also be the actor’s return to directing, although he had written and produced other films in this period (Avane Srimannarayana, Kirik Party).

In the two-and-a-half-minute promo, most of the details are revealed in the form of a voiceover as we zoom in on a crow sitting over the tombstone of the titular character. What is being discussed is the battle between Parashurama and Samudrarajan (Sea Lord), with the latter’s return being predicted.

The crow can then be seen pecking on the tombstone, as though it is trying hard to wake up the person laid to rest there with a curious epitaph: we will meet once again. Given the first part and the use of the Rashomon Effect in it, the teaser even hints at which character will return to take the story forward.

The promo ends with the line, “Some tales were witnessed. Many other tales, heard. The rest were hearsay and mere lies,” as the camera moves from land to the sea, as Ajaneesh Loknath’s music takes over.

Hombale Films, makers of blockbusters like KGF: Chapter 1, apart from its sequel and a new film with Prabhas, will be producing Richard Antony. The film is expected to be based on the character Rakshit Shetty played in the 2014 film. The same film was even remade in Tamil as Richie, with Nivin Pauly playing the lead, although with moderate success.

According to reports, the film is expected to roll early next year. It is being shot by Karm Chawla with music by Ajaneesh Loknath (Kirik Party).
