Since making his directorial debut with Ulidavaru Kandante way back in 2014, Rakshit Shetty, has often been quizzed about returning to filmmaking. Although he has been busy with acting commitments, Rakshit has often mentioned that he has been working on the script of his next, and now, there’s official confirmation. On Sunday, Rakshit announced that he will act in and direct Richard Anthony – Lord Of The Sea.

“When I was making Ulidavaru Kandante, I didn’t have an idea that there would be a prequel or sequel to it. One thing that people did tell me, though, was that they wanted to know more about its central character, Richie. I know there are many unanswered questions in Ulidavaru Kandante. This film will be more linear in its narrative and can be termed as both a prequel and sequel of sorts. The universe somehow made my next directorial venture about Richie,” says Rakshit about this film that is slated to take off in January. It will also have returning characters from the earlier film, he adds.

“I had gone to Goa to write this story. I know people have been waiting for me to announce my next directorial project. As I began writing, I began to visualise it and the entire process excited me. I have finished the script, but I plan on doing a couple more drafts. Meanwhile, I also have Sapta Sagaradaache Ello to finish, but I have time to complete those drafts and get everything in place before we begin filming in January,” he adds. The film will have some of his usual technical team, including Karm Chawla, B Ajaneesh Loknath, Vikram Mor and Ullas Hydoor.
